Open Oven Saturday’s
- Every Saturday (weather permitting).

What to expect:
OPEN OVEN SATURDAYS are full of possibility and a spirit of experimentation! We’ll provide a good fire…and a bit of background music. The rest is up to YOU! If you’d like to cook during these “Open Oven” times — you’ll be responsible for all of your own food supplies. We’ll keep the fires burning and are happy to lend a helping hand, but we won’t have any food supplies on site.
The Wolfville Farmers Market is a 2 minute walk away. What better way to spend a Saturday than supporting local agriculutral producers at The Market… and walking those supplies across the street to cook them up in a live-fire dome oven.
- Experiment with local food & cooking with fire. Learn to cook in a wood-fired oven, creating new recipes with your community.
- Cook, learn and be together as a community, connect with friends old and new, and have a fun time!
- A space where everyone is welcome, regardless of experience. Our goal at the oven is to have everyone in our community feel comfortable participating.
We invite you to bring:
- The ingredients for your dish and any flavourings you enjoy. Suggestions include: Fish, chicken, pork, tofu, beans, lentils, chickpeas, root vegetables, squash, etc. Suggestions for flavouring: Herbs, oils, sauces, citrus, seasonings, batter, etc.
- Any other food you may like to enjoy for a picnic in the park (salad, sides, appetizers etc.)
- Cast iron pan and plates, cutlery, and a non-alcoholic drink (see the “What to Bring List” for a list of things you may consider bringing to picnic in the park with us https://frontstreetoven.ca/bookings/)

Front Street Community Oven is an independent non-profit organization. Our work is funded by grants and community donations. We strive to always make Thursday night Community Cookouts inviting and open to all, and that is only possible through the ongoing support of community members that are in a position to give.
